One of the ways my dad (70+ with Parkinson's) and I (30+ seeking father-son activities) like to spend time together is eating food we like.
When I pulled out the Klondike Original Ice Cream Bar, I had to ask, "Hey Dad, what would you do for a Klondike Bar?"

He asked for a plate and a spoon, then for a cold zero sugar soda with straw, and a bump up from chair to walker to that he could go to the bathroom. I ask him, "Hey Dad, would you hold my hand for a Klondike Bar?". He responds with a firm "No."
When your daddio's got Parkinson's, sometimes it's easier to get a response to the question you want when you ask a "Yes or No" question.
Or a "One or the Other" question.
"Hey Dad, would you rather hold my hand or take a walk around the block for this Klondike Bar?" After a pause, big poppa retorts, "Klondike Bar first, then the walk."
A negotiation about the timeless Klondike Bar turned into a positive outcome with my dad and me spending time on a healthy walk around the block.
Years later, I'll still do anything for a Klondike Bar, but won't be able to do anything to get my dad back.
And now it's time for some throwback Klondike TV commercial classics.
