Join one in four Michiganders who quality with low-income and co-pay just $2 for healthcare services with a handy Medicaid card they send you in the mail. When you've got nothing of value to lose except your health, Medicaid is here for you in Michigan.
Medicaid is a type of care coverage for people of all ages with low income. About one in four Michiganders are enrolled in Medicaid (Source: KFF), which means that one in four Michiganders qualifies as low income.
You must first qualify for Medicaid, then apply for Medicaid benefits online, receive a card in the mail, then enroll in a health plan.
Why do people with low income enroll in Medicaid? Michiganders enrolled in Medicaid don’t have to pay the full cost of care services covered by Medicaid. When you’re enrolled in Medicaid, you only pay what’s called a “co-pay”, usually just $2.
While enrolled in Medicaid, you check whether or not the particular service is covered by Medicaid, then check the Michigan Medicaid co-payment chart to see out how much you’ll have to pay, and it’s usually just $2.

To qualify for Medicaid in Michigan, you must meet the following criteria:
If you qualify for Michigan Medicaid, then you’ll want to apply for Medicaid next.
Before you apply for Michigan Medicaid on the “MI Bridges” site and enroll in a Medicaid health plan on “Michigan ENROLL” site, do yourself a favor and prepare all the documents needed beforehand.
Plan ahead before applying online at the “MI Bridges” site, by preparing all the required documents for a Michigan Medicade application. The more evidence you can provide to prove your case, the better your chances of becoming a bona fide Medicaid beneficiary.
After you apply for Medicaid, you might be eligible for several of the following programs, literally case-by-case as a case manager handles yours.
You won’t know which Medicaid health care programs you’re eligible for until after you’re qualified for Medicaid, and after you select a program.
Like a box of chocolates, Medicaid is, you never know what you’re gonna get. In Michigan, these programs, many endowed with creative names, are offered to low income people who’ve already gone through the hurdle of Medicaid entrollment then later determined eligibility into such programs.
It’s possible to become approved for Medicaid without a comprehensive health plan, but most applicants become approved for a Medicaid health plan, and can’t avail of fee-for-service Medicaid because they get locked into a health plan.
Most Michiganders enrolled in Medicaid join a health plan in order to become covered by Medicaid. The purpose of a health plan is to manage your healthcare services all in one place. To receive care services, you’ll need two cards: the mihealth card and the health plan card.
Fewer Michiganders enroll in medicaid pay as they go under what’s called fee-for-service. You use Medicaid to pay for only the services rendered, not an entire health plan. To receive care services, you’ll need just the mihealth card.
You might not be able to pick because household size and income determines which Medicaid program you get approved for.
