Haven't tried Magic Spoon grain-free cereal yet?

The best is yet to yum...

It all started either on TV on or YouTube months ago when I got served a commercial for Magic Spoon, the bright colored all new type of cereal, that's apparently tasty and healthy.

I never click on ads then buy stuff, but fast forward months later I was shopping on Amazon with a hankering for cereal.

I typed 'cereal' into Amazon and up comes Magic Spoon in the number one spot! I clicked and bought the 4 pack #ad because I remembered the quirky bright commercial.

OK, I never click on Google Ads and buy stuff, but I do click Amazon ads and buy stuff, how about you?

Magic Spoon cereal is sold on the brand's official website (magicspoon.com), on Amazon and various other places you shop for pantry foods online.

I now have a full time job, so on payday I wanted to splurge a little. I love variety.

Yummy Taste?

I bought the 4 pack, remember? With the flavors Frosted, Peanut Butter, Fruity, Cocoa, and Fruity.

I've only taste-tested the Frosted and Peanut Butter flavors before, so my impressions don't 100% apply to the other two flavors, which I'll have to report back to you later.

How about after breakfast?

That's the Peanut Butter. My dad (old guy with Parkinson's and dementia) both like the way the boxes look. Such nice colors and fun art.

Let me tell you, I like the Frosted way more than the Peanut Butter.

I'm the type of the consumer who saves the best for last. So I chose Frosted and Peanut Butter first, because I think I'm going to like Fruity and Cocoa even better.

The Frosted is their version of Frosted Cheerios, and to me it had a hint of Lucky Charms marshmallow flavor. Pretty good, but not an every-morning staple.

I didn't even finish a full bowl of the Peanut Butter, so I was expecting a flavor like Reese's Puffs, but it had some barley tea flavor going on that made it a no-go after the fifth spoonful. I drank all the milk from the bowl though, which did have a nice nuttiness to it.

I believe the best is yet to come.

My favorite is to eat cereal with whole milk, or even half and half sometimes, for that thick, rich, sweet I crave.

Nice Texture?

One of Magic Spoon's claims to fame is that the cereal is gluten-free. So for people trying to lose weight, have a gluten allergy, or simply prefer gluten-free, that's one more reason to try.

While Magic Spoon isn't the only gluten-free cereal, it certainly is the most fun. Other gluten-free breakfast brands look pretty basic, mostly O's and woven squares.

When you first pour on milk, it stays crunchy for a good amount of time. I know some cereals get soggy in milk quick, and others stay crispy for a really long time. Magic Spoon offers a somewhat long-lasting crisp.

After the cereal starts to absorb the milk a little more, the surface of Magic Spoon rings become a little slimy (like many cereals).

After 5 minutes or so, the crunch feels different on bite-down. Once you get past the first crunch, it's almost like the entire O disintegrates. Like the outside of the O is a hard shell, and the inside is a lighter consistency, nearly-hollow.

I've tried Magic Spoon with Whole Milk, Almond Milk, and Soy Milk - and the cereal goes well with whichever you prefer.

Worth Buying Again?

I bought the 4 pack, remember? With the flavors Frosted, Peanut Butter, Cocoa, and Fruity.

I have to admit, after trying only two types of Magic Spoon, the Frosted and the Peanut Butter, I was thinking I wouldn't buy the same 4 pack again for myself.

I was ready to declare that I wouldn't buy Magic Spoon again. I still have 2 more flavors from the 4 pack to try.

But that's changed now that I've discovered they have 4 more flavors I never knew existed. Now I'm thinking about a Christmas time stocking stuffer for myself and the family.

I do think it's a fun low-price-range gift for families. Each person gets a Magic Spoon, but it's up to them if they want to share their flavor with the other family members.

The 8 flavors of Magic spoon available 2022 holiday season are:

  1. Frosted
  2. Peanut Butter
  3. Fruity
  4. Cocoa
  5. Cookies & Cream
  6. Cinnamon Roll
  7. Blueberry Muffin
  8. Maple Waffle
UPDATE September 2023, months since publishing this post - I haven't purchased Magic Spoon Cereal a second time. It was worth the colorful excitement and scrutiny of taste bud, and my advice reigns true - for me at least - Magic Spoon is good to try one time, but most people will stick regular cereal like I have.
