"Amazon's Alexa Together" #ad is a paid subscription that supports specialized fall detection devices like SkyAngelCare #ad and Vayyar.
Rumor has it, certain Echo devices come equipped with ultrasonic motion detectors #ad built-in, that can be wall-mounted to get the job done for fall detection too.
“Ultrasound motion detection is available on Echo (4th Gen. or newer) and Echo Dot (4th Gen. or newer) devices.” [Amazon.com Official Documentation]
The choice service by Amazon called "Alexa Together" includes far more variety in feature set than is applicable to indoor sliding tumbles. "Alexa Together" enhances Amazon Echo Device and Alexa App features to enable care teams to coordinate reminders, keep tabs on mom/dad, and Voice/Video/Drop-In to call them and have a conversation.
Did you know the Echo Dot and - so it’s fools gold to the fake bloggers telling you the only way to know dad hasn’t fallen is buying an "Alexa Together" subscription and a third-party device that only works with "Alexa Together" subscriptions paid monthly.
I got 2 Echos, 1 Pop, and 1 Show 10, and I’m geared up to detect some motion in the ocean of my dad.
I’m a small-time caregiver inventor, who’s jimmied up one way to setup my Echo Dot for motion detection in my home.
You have to set up a Routine that does something after the Echo Dot detects motion, like send you an Communication message “Motion detected by Echo Dot” - so you know their OK. Its called, motion detection.
You put your Echo Dot next to your elder’s favorite place to hang out in the day, and setup respectful notifications, so you know they’re moving about like normal - and hey why not Drop In for a video chat?

Visit the Assistive Technology Services official Amazon.com store for Alexa-enabled fall detection and other types.
SkyAngelCare is a wearable fall detection device that's compatible with Amazon's Echo smart speaker products and Alexa voice-enabled services. That’s because you wear it on a lanyard around your neck, or put it on your person in your pocket.
Wearable fall detection detects falls when you’re wearing the device on your person.
SkyAngelCare works with "Alexa Together" only. Again, "Alexa Together" is a paid subscription service, it’s Amazon’s one senior care service for Echo device and smartphone users who are caregivers to an aging person.
At once a fall is detected, SkyAngelCare works for both scenarios:
One downside I must put on showcase: the setup instructions are unbearable, so I’m not thinking of SkyAngel for my fall-prone daddy longlegs.
That beep hurts the ears, and pressing those tiny plastic buttons, and I’ll prolly press the tips of my fingers too hard on the wrong part like I usually do the first try. Oh, no.
View the Vayyar fall detection device on Amazon.com.
Vayyar Care is a viable fall detection solution for "Alexa Together" subscribers only.
The Vayyar Care device works wall-mounted to monitor an open space.
It’s the same sad story for low-income users like me, we don’t have a good fall detection gadget.
Similar to SkyAngelCare’s go-to response plan, the Vayyar technology is designed with America's most popular voice-enabled technology in mind to help out after fallz by contacting the emergency contact like you.
It’s what people say when they’re talking about a type of medical alert system, which senses a person has fallen, and responds to ensure their safety.
Fall detection can be done with different electronic devices that work with "Alexa Together", a paid subscription for Echo device users.
Inventors have invented all different kinds of fall detection solutions, some better, some worse.
ElderTech entrepreneurs take note: If you wanna become SkyAngelCare’s numero uno competitor with growing market share, then please create a fall detection pendent hardware device compatible with Amazon's Echo device, without a paid subscription.
Paid subscriptions make a huge barrier to poor old people, who hadn’t agreed to bringing home an Echo device in the first place, so they’re not really interested in learning dozens of voice commands, for example.
The big thing they know about a device that listens to you which is also connected to the internet and Amazon’s greater internet services is, Privacy.
If I don’t care for smart home technology in the first place AND I'm skeptical of surveillance, then old people are justly wary of Amazon's voice-enabled products and services.
Who’s going to distrust Amazon's privacy practice, then start paying monthly, and continue paying in order to use a SkyAngelCare wearable fall detection pendant sold separately? This is not a plausible customer journey.
That’s why I think a FREE VERSION of FALL DETECTION that WORKS GOOD with AMAZON would make millions of dollars in 2025. Seniors reluctant to change and technology might feasibly try a low cost fall detection gadget compatible with the Echo their family member already gifted them.
Since SkyAngelCare is the industry expert and friends with Amazon's Echo and Alexa, I’d love to see this new technology come from the original Assistive Technology Services.
It’s confirmed, the Echo (Original) and Echo Dot (Newer, Smaller) have motion detection.
You can use motion detection in a FREE feature called Routines inside the Amazon Alexa App.
It’s a little logic step like IF this THEN that.
IF Echo detects motion, THEN what do you want to do once motion is detected?
I like my Amazon smart home system to send me a discreet 1-on-1 message using the App's Communication Tab, just regular texting.
I confirm you can wall-mount a suite of Echo Dots around your home, for a complete motion detection coverage.
Rumor has it you can wall-mount multiple Echo Dots for legitimate fall detection when you have a "Alexa Together" paid subscription (but I cannot confirm).
Check that SkyAngel911 on Amazon.com if you want don't want the hassle of setting up Amazon's voice technology to be compatible with a third-party device.
Available in hot colors that are more easily spotted whilst shrouded in darkness under the couch, the SkyAngel 911FD is an automatic fall detection device as well that works wherever you can get a cell phone signal, because it’s got a “mobile cellular” chip just like a cell phone.
UPDATE: This post was updated in April 2024 to reflect Amazon Alexa technology’s feature which allows you to change the wake word from default “Alexa” to preferred “Echo,” “Amazon,” “Computer,” or “Ziggy”. You can change yours using Amazon official instructions, here.
