Right away when you knock on Network180’s door, you’re greeted by different people that look like you.

This is important in Kent County, Michigan we got lonely people of all walks wishing someone would give them something to look forward to. Network180 connects locals to services for mental health, substance use or intellectual, and developmental disabilities.

I was seeking low-cost mental health support services around Easttown’s 28th street grub hub for some drive thru to enter a nice place on a full stomach - for me - when I found Network180. Graycare is NOT a doctor.

They got parking in the front of the building. They got a bike rack by the front door in case you’re two-wheeling.

There’s a big letter A on the door, you can’t miss it. They got a lobby with the front desk right in front of you and blue chairs if you prefer to sit down. If you need a wheelchair, they lend you theirs!

In Grand Rapids, we want New Americans! 💰 Kent County Welcome Plan Steering Committee details Southwest Michigan muscles: “The economic power of Grand Rapids’ immigrant community alone grew by more than $100 million in just one year, and immigrants in Grand Rapids hold nearly $1.5 billion in spending power.” [Read it on KentCountyNewAmericans.org]

While Grand Rapids can be proud to be among United State’s notable population growers, some generational Michiganders aren’t so keen on the new neighbors moving in. My guess? It’s mostly homeowners wanting to keep their property value high, but foreign people moving into Grand Rapids houses might be more complex than that.

Paul Isley speaks truth: "Kent County people over 40 are pretty wealthy, but Kent County people under 40 pinching pennies." [Paraphrased from FOX 17 WXMI news report.]

A pretty PDF from AccessKent.org further highlights a growing health care access gap. Young people can’t afford good doctors.

For professionals with access to the internet, Network180 operates a Learning Management System (LMS) is a website you log in to for training courses at Network180.

When young people are poor without people caring for them, some young people start unhealthy drug habits.
