Stay calm, certify early, and get ready for MiUI!
MiUI means a new era for unemployed Michiganders claiming benefits.
I just got this letter in the mail at my house, and let me tell you, Michigan, it is some of the best news I’ve seen in a long time! Welcome to the Michigan-registered Graycare LLC, coming to you as a peer, a system user, and your community advocate.
First, let’s give a huge, heartfelt shout-out to the hardworking staff and managers at the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA). From the main offices in Hamtramck to every service center across our great state, we see the work you do for the unemployed and we are grateful. Today, I’m taking the mic as a news announcer to tell you about a massive "modernization" of our Michigan unempoyment insurance online system. We are moving from the decade-old MiWAM platform to a state-of-the-art system called MiUI. It’s time to get excited!

The UIA is officially upgrading. They are replacing the old Michigan Web Account Manager (MiWAM) with MiUI, a modern platform designed to be faster and fairer for everyone.
Mark these dates on your calendar, because the rollout happens in phases:

Listen closely, claimants: Even though the backend is getting a massive upgrade this February, you will still log into the MiWAM portal as usual until Summer 2026. But come February 23, even though the "front door" looks the same, you’ll be powered by that new modern system, baby!
This isn’t just a fresh coat of paint; it’s a total engine swap. Check out how MiUI compares to the system we’ve been struggling with for ten years. MiUI is designed to be faster and fairer for managing Michigan unemployment benefits online.

Stay calm, there's a light at the end of the tunnel.
To move all that data into the future, the UIA has to take the system offline for a few days. During this window, all online and phone services will be OFFLINE.
The outage runs from 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, through Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026.
This means MiWAM, MARVIN, the Chatbot, and the phone lines are taking a break. My message to you? Keep Calm and Don’t Panic. Everything will be back and better than ever on Monday morning, February 23, 2026.
If you're currently claiming benefits in the MiWAM, then there are a few things the UIA recommends you know. You can plan ahead to avoid surprises or missed actions. Follow these commands:

Watch out for scams: This letter I got at my house? This is the only official word the agency is sending about this transition. UIA will not text you or call you asking for info during this downtime. If a "MiWAM agent" hits you up on social media or text, ignore them—it's a scam!
Monday, February 23, is the big day. It’s the "partial launch," and it’s the start of a better experience for all of us. When you log back in that Monday morning, walk in with confidence. You’ll be using the new modern system, baby! The UIA is stepping into the future, and Graycare LLC is right here with you to make sure no one gets left behind.
We’re all in this together, Michigan. Here are the tools you need to stay ahead:
A massive Thank You to the UIA teams in Hamtramck and across the state. We appreciate you working through this transition to help us get what we need.
