Are you a family caregiver in the Lansing or Ingham County area in need of a break? I'm in mostly rural Gratiot County with fewer options, so I'm seriously considering the drive.
A family friend (and family caregiver) picked up a flyer on her last visit to the MSU clinic, It's got with complete contact information for three Lansing area respite care services, and he was nice enough to share a copy with us.
I'm learning the challenging lesson, that as a caregiver you should proactively caring for yourself because quality of life matters equally for both care-partner and care-recipient.
Just an hour away, with lots of nice restaurants, shopping, and grocery - why not try respite care for a day, and pick up a little something for myself at Horrocks?!
P.S. Fresh International Market is by far my favorite asian market in the area.

Thanks to the skilled health workers at MSU and my well-informed friend, a day trip to have some fun is now possible for Mid-Michigan families who bear the responsibility of caregiving most days of the year.
Out of 365 days, you could spare just one for yourself? If you haven't tried respite care before. It might sound scary or a hassle. But what's the alternative? Give it a try.
I'm typing the contact info from the flyer below, with links to the respite care providers.
