The microwave struck 10:25 AM, and that means my dad's 11:00 AM pills are right around the corner.

With a little practice recognizing the signs of upcoming ADLs in need of care, I'm trying to improve my ability to anticipate my caregiving duties in advance.

I'm trying to get better at predicting when my dad is gonna need help.

Now that's what I call a fully-prepared 11:00 AM pill party! Photographed are a Pill Box with Stickers, come Carba Doba Leba Doba, a can of Coke Zero, and a tumbler straw for my dad.

How I set my dad up for independence by anticipating his needs

The microwave struck 10:25, so lil gangreen prepared an 11:00 pill party for my dad.

I had work to do. Maybe take a walk or hole up in my home office?

  • Our special morning to evening pill box setup
  • A can of Coke Zero
  • A straw my dad can use to sip from the can
  • A can opener we jimmy'ed up for my dad but he doesn't like to use
  • My dad's prescribed dose of that sweet, sweet Carbidopa-Levodopa

I feel good about myself after I prepare for my dad's needs in advance, because I keep him comfortable and give myself some me time.
