The thing is…
Lots of people using Echo devices have an Amazon Prime Subscription #ad, the type you pay for monthly.
Most people get Amazon Prime for the fast, free shipping and discounts across the board.
Some people don’t know your account’s Prime Video benefits apply to your Echo device.
So don’t miss out if you’re a Prime subscriber already.

As long as you bought Amazon Prime and logged in to your Echo device and Prime Video app on your phone with the same account, you’re good.
Usually how it works is…
You login to your Amazon Shopping account and subscribe to Amazon Prime, then you buy an Echo Show smart display and leave the checkbox to auto-login checked, then the Echo arrives in the mail and you plug it in to watch Prime Video movies and shows.

Watching Amazon Prime Video on an Amazon Echo is a pretty good experience. Compared to YouTube on an Echo device, Amazon Prime Video is faster responding and easier to navigate with your voice, plus also faster to tap and scroll with fingers for touchy types.
I’ve heard rumor about watchlists and TV show reminders, but ain’t that advanced yet.
So far, I’m convinced Prime Video is one good choice for voice-enabled video services in 2025, cuz it works with Echo plus phones and casting to TVs or FireTVs and is made by Amazon.
But I’m happy with my lil selection I got now on my Echo Show 10 next to my dad’s favorite nature documentary-watching chair.
The genres tab is a great place to look for first time echo show prime video viewers cuz you can find something to watch with categories and popular titles.
If you have Prime and an Echo, then you should try watching movies and TV shows on Prime Video on your Echo Show’s screen.
You can ask your Echo device to open up and play videos using Echo voice commands.
Just talk directly to the Echo device when you’re in the same room, and it has a stable internet connection with lights showing it’s got electricity too.
📢 “Echo, open Prime Video”
Or if you want to cast a wider net for video services other than Prime Video, try:
📢 “Echo, open Video Home”
Alternatively, use your finger to swipe from the top or side of your screen to see then tap the Video icon that looks like a play button.
For me, it’s swiping down from the top of the screen on my Echo Show 10, which my Dad likes to use next to his living room recliner.

To select then play the video:
Amazon Official Documentation: “Watch Video Streaming Services on Echo Show” (...but these instructions are somewhat muddled with FireTV, and not clear which works on Echo vs FireTVs vs FireTV Stick like mine.
If you started this whole thing because you wanted to stream Prime Video on your Amazon Echo Show, then I hope you’ve gotten there by now.
The first hiccup I should have warned about earlier is…
If you open Amazon Prime on your new Echo Show, and you’re NOT logged in to your account, then you MUST log in to your account.
The only way I know how is by using your fingers on the keyboard on the screen, which is too cumbersome for a wide spectrum of our US demographic. If you’re tech savvy and have a friend or family member who owns an Echo device, be a pal and set it up for them. Log them in.
Make sure your Echo device is plugged into the wall.
Make sure your Echo device has good wifi - I mean check your phone or computer to see if your wifi is working good.
Go ahead and download that Amazon Prime Video app aforementioned.
Prime Video should be the first and leftmost streaming services alongside competi-buddies Netflix, FreeVee, Tubi, and maybe YouTube.
My dad like Tubi, for example, on FireTV Stick but not on Echo Show.
Say “Echo, open Prime Video.”
